Join other church leaders for a day of rest, retreat, and renewal! The Presbytery of Missouri River Valley's Faith Education and Leadership Development (FELD) Committee, in conjunction with the Leadership and Administrative Teams have been working, once again, to develop an all-day Church Leader Retreat on Friday, August 14, 2026 at Calvin Crest in Fremont, NE. This experience is intended for volunteers, pastors, elders, ministry staff, youth leaders, music ministers, commissioned ruling elders, etc., so we hope you will join us! If you care about "Being Church in Today's World," this is for you!

This day-long retreat will be led by Susan Stabile, an experienced spiritual director and retreat director trained in the Ignatian tradition. She offers retreats and other programs of spiritual formation in parishes, retreat houses, and other venues around the country. Susan teaches at the Sacred Ground Center for Spirituality program for training spiritual directors and for training directors to lead the Spiritual Exercises. She previously served as Director of the Office of Spirituality at the University of St. Thomas, where she is a Professor Emerita, and co-directed a Lilly Grant secured by St. Catherine University to bring contemplative practices to congregations and parishes. Susan is the author of numerous publications, including Growing in Love and Wisdom (Oxford University Press 2013). 

The only cost for the retreat is meals (lunch $10, dinner $12 - may be paid the day of the retreat with cash or check made out to PMRV).

Approximate schedule for Friday's "Being Church in Today's World" Retreat:

• 9:00am | Check-in and coffee
• 9:30am | Worship
• 9:45am | First Keynote (includes a break)
• 12:00pm | Lunch
• 1:00pm | Second Keynote (includes a break)
• 3:15pm | Worship
• 3:30-6pm | Free Time
• 6:00pm - Dinner at Calvin Crest
• Evening - Free time

Please note that this retreat is in conjunction with the PMRV Stated Meeting of the Presbytery held the next day, August 15, beginning at 9:00am at Calvin Crest. Contact nicole@pmrv.org with any questions.

Please register by Wednesday, August 5 if you plan to eat lunch at Calvin Crest that day. Details for the presbytery meeting on Saturday are as follows:
